01.16.20 - Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart released an image of a belt which was found during the initial investigation near Ocean Parkway in Gilgo Beach. The belt had either the letters "HM" or "WH" (depending on the orientation of the belt) embossed in black leather. They also announce the launch of gilgonews.com, a website designed to share information and collect tips regarding the investigation.


06.2019 - A proposal was made to use genetic genealogy to help identify remains which were still unidentified and possible identify the Long Island Serial Killer.

12.13.10 - The remains of Megan Waterman, Amber Lynn Costello and Maureen Brainard-Barnes are found.


09.02.10 - Amber Lynn Costello (one of "The Gilgo Four") goes missing

06.06.10 - Megan Waterman (one of "The Gilgo Four") goes missing after placing an ad on Craigslist as an escort.

Summer of 2006 - Mallia searches the gated beach community where Gilbert was last seen. He and Blue are unsuccessful at finding anything. 

06.10 - John Mallia is asked by the Suffolk County Police Department's missing person bureau to begin searching for Gilbert, using Blue, Mallia's German Shepherd cadaver dog.

05.02.10 - Shannan Gilbert places a call to 911 at 4:51am. She claims that someone is trying to kill her, stating "They are trying to kill me." 

05.01.10 - Shannan Gilbert is hired through Craigslist to visit the Oak Beach residence of Joseph Brewer. Later that evening, Gilbert flees the residence. 

07.09 - 08.09 - Amanda Berthelemy, Melissa Barthelemy's sister, receives a number of "vulgar, mocking and insulting" phone calls originating from Melissa's phone, from an unknown individual. At some point during this series of phone calls, the caller informs Amanda that her sister is dead.  

07.10.09 - Melissa Barthelemy (one of "The Gilgo Four") goes missing.

07.09.07 - Last time Maureen Brainard-Barnes (one of "The Gilgo Four") was seen alive, saying she planned "to spend the day in New York City."

07.2007 - (Exact date and time unknown) - Sara Karnes receives a phone call from an unknown male, calling from a phone number unfamiliar to her, claiming he had just seen Brainard-Barnes, who was staying at "a whorehouse in Queens".  

03.22.07 - The other leg belonging to the torso of the victim known only as "Cherries" is found Oyster Bay in the village of Cove Neck.

03.21.07 - One leg belonging to the torso of the victim known only as "Cherries" is found at Cold Spring Harbor

03.03.07 - a suitcase, containing the torso of either a Hispanic or light-skinned African American woman was found along the shore of Harbor Island Park, in the town of Mamaroneck. While the torso was never identified, it was determined that the victim had been stabbed to death. She was given the nickname "Cherries", because of a tattoo of two cherries on her left breast.

07.26.03 - Partial remains of a female (naked, dismembered torso, missing its' head and hands), later identified as Jessica Taylor, are discovered in Manorville. 

07.21.03 - Jessica Taylor, then 20 years old, goes missing

07.18 - 07.22.03 - Jessica Taylor is seen working around the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.

11.19.2000 - Partial remains (later determined to be Valerie Mack) are discovered in Manorville.

2000 - Sometime in the spring or summer - Valerie Mack is last seen by members of her family. At the time of her disappearance, Mack had been working in Philadelphiaas an escort. 

06.28.97 - Partial remains are discovered at Hempstead Lake State Park

04.20.96 - Fire Island - Davis Park - Severed legs are discovered in a garbage bag.
